I enjoying sketching and use my sketchbook to help me explore my designs as they develop. The observational drawing of the Sage music centre in Gateshead (top left) required a wide range of sketching pencils from HB to 9B.

The preliminary sketches (bottom left) in pencil and technical pen allowed me to quickly record elements of the building that may influence my designs in the future.

The diagram of Azuma House (top right) shows the location of a particular fragment I wished to focus on.
